Buying fitted furniture

If you're new to buying fitted furniture we can help you choose from a wide range of designs, styles and finishes.

The information on this page will give you an idea of what to think about when choosing from all the options available. But whenever you need more information or advice, please don’t hesitate call us.

Keep reading for more about how buying fitted furniture can benefit your home.

And, for details of how we plan, design and install your fitted furniture – including our service standards and lifetime guarantee – and how to pay, see under the heading Terms and conditions below.

Why buy fitted furniture?

The fitted furniture we build for you is tailor-made for your home. We build it to complement or transform your existing furniture and decor, and to make best use of any room or space, however challenging.

You may want to give a fresh look to your bedroom, lounge, kitchen or bathroom. Or you may need to find a place for your new office at home, extra storage for your books and DVDs, or the home cinema you’ve always promised yourself.

We can build furniture and storage for you in any space – from box rooms to master bedrooms, in alcoves, under eaves and sloping ceilings, for loft conversions, libraries, rooms with unusual layouts and luxury en suite bathrooms.

At Classical Bedrooms, we will work with you to make the most of – and add value to – every room in your home. We may help you to find space you didn’t know you had!

A wide range of options

There’s an almost limitless range of possibilities of colour, layout, design or style – complete with personalised ‘finishing touches’ – when it comes to fitted furniture. We can help you choose the right look for your home, from styles that are more traditional or timeless to those that are more modern or contemporary.

You can choose from different types of material and finishes for the doors and drawer-fronts of the furniture. These include:

  • solid wood
  • vinyl-wrapped
  • sculptured or profile-fronted (as oppose to flat-fronted).
  • real wood veneers
  • acrylic-faced

(Please remember, if you’re ordering solid wood or real wood veneers, that they are natural products – each piece will have unique variations in shade and grain, including knots, all of which are characteristics of real wood.)

Service standards

Our standards for work and materials

Workmanship: all our work is done in-house: we measure, design, order, custom-build and fit every item of furniture we supply. This means we can both maintain the highest standards of workmanship throughout, and give you a lifetime guarantee on all our fitted furniture.

Materials: we use only high quality, furniture-grade materials to make sure your furniture lasts, not just looks good.

Suppliers: we also only use trusted and established suppliers, allowing you to choose with confidence from premium designs, styles and components.

Bespoke: each item of furniture we build for you is tailor-made for your home, in the style and design of your choice. We offer a huge range of complementary designs, styles and finishes for you to choose from, to help you co-ordinate with your existing furniture, or to create a whole new look. We are not limited to standard sizes or widths, for example, of doors or drawer fronts, that suppliers make. And we can build made-to-measure fitted furniture for any room or space in your home, whatever the size.

Design & planning

Planning, designing and building your furniture

Discussing your needs and options: at the start of the design and planning process, we can meet with you either at your home or here at our showroom, to discuss what furniture you need and the options available. We will need to visit your home to take measurements, after which we draw up a plan of the space and how the furniture will fit.

Tailor-made design: before we order the materials and start to build your furniture, we double check with you that the plan, style and design meets your individual requirements and preferences.

Installation date: we will also agree with you a date to start the installation. Normally, we aim to start the installation with four weeks of the date of placing the order. However, we may be able to agree an earlier or later date if needed – please let us know at the beginning if this is the case.

Quote, deposit, payment

Quote, deposit and payment

Quotes, advice and estimates: like any home visit and advice we give, a quote or estimate is free of charge and without obligation to order from us.

Deposit: when you are ready to order, we ask for a deposit (non-refundable) of 20% of the full cost of the invoice before we buy in the materials.

Payment: the balance of the invoice will need to be paid on the day the installation is completed.

Installing your furniture

Installing your fitted furniture

Before the installation: before the date we start to install your furniture, we ask you to make sure that the room or space is empty and clear of all personal items, including pictures, ornaments and electrical equipment.

During the installation: when we are installing your furniture, we take care to cause the least amount of disruption possible. We always use dustsheets, do any cutting outside where it’s convenient and appropriate, and clean up afterwards.

Arranging other services: as part of the installation, we can provide plastering, redecorating (including replacing floor coverings), plumbing and electrical services. We may be able to carry out some of the work ourselves, but also have contacts with trades that we trust to work to the same high quality, professional standards. Please let us know, as soon as possible, if you need us to arrange any of these services.

Lifetime guarantee

The lifetime guarantee on our fitted furniture

Guarantee: if a fault develops with any item or part of the fitted furniture we build and install, other than that caused:

  • by misuse or damage
  • by natural wear and tear or
  • from being moved or modified in any way other than by us,

we will repair or replace that item or part.

Conditions: this guarantee lasts for as long as the furniture remains in your property – the property in which we installed it originally – and has not been moved or modified in any way other than by us.

Repair and replacement at cost: if the fault is due to misuse, damage, natural wear and tear or from being moved or modified in any way other than by us, we will of course offer to repair or replace the item or part at cost.
